Iceland ratifies the Energy Charter Treaty

On 7 July 2015, Iceland ratified the Energy Charter Treaty. Iceland is the forty-eighth state to ratify the Treaty.

Following its internal ratification procedure, Iceland deposited its instrument of ratification to the Depositary of the Treaty, the Government of Portugal, on 20 July 2015.  As stipulated in its article 44 paragraph 2, the Energy Charter Treaty shall enter into force on the ninetieth day after the deposit of its instrument of ratification.

Therefore the Energy Charter Treaty shall enter into force for Iceland on 18 October 2015.
