Delegation of the World Petroleum Council Iranian National Chapter Youth Committee visits the Secretariat


In the light of growing cooperation between Iran and the International Energy Charter, representatives of the Iranian Oil Industry Youth Committee in the World Petroleum Council visited the Energy Charter Secretariat on December 13, 2017. The Iranian delegation participated in a specially organised workshop by the Secretariat’s Knowledge Centre in order to provided knowledge about  the Energy Charter Process and the Energy Charter Treaty.

The World Petroleum Council (WPC) has accreditation as a non-governmental organisation from the United Nations. The WPC is dedicated to the promotion of sustainable management and use of the world’s petroleum resources for the benefit of all. The WPC Young Professionals Committee was set up in 2006 in response to the shortage of young, talented employees who could replace the ranks of experienced professionals destined to leave the oil industry. In 2014, the Iranian Oil Industry Youth Committee in the World Petroleum Council (IOI WPC YC) established the Iranian Oil Industry Young Professionals Committee (IOIYPC), aiming to employ youthful energy and dynamism for Iranian Oil industry local content & the WPC, as well as to engage the youth more into the ongoing industrial activities of the sector, as well as to provide them with a platform for dialogue.

Iran signed the International Energy Charter during the 27th meeting of the Energy Charter Conference in Tokyo and maintains active cooperation with the Energy Charter Secretariat
